A younger version of me would have professed to be low-drama, but that guy had a blind spot. A clear-eyed assessment of personal history suggests otherwise. Love triangles, throw downs for the honor of a lady, romances with lovers that I hadn’t met. I play in bands, for God’s sake! It was painful hating the drama and finding myself so often embroiled in it. It is cathartic to recognize that I played a part in creating each drama.

Writing songs has been therapy for me, a way to give the drama that my soul craves a home. I can bring drama into the world intentionally, not making a mess of my life as I do it. My music is for people who also find themselves inexplicably drawn to drama. Maybe you.
